Frank A. Roth was appointed General Counsel of Lehigh University in 2001.  He is the University’s chief legal officer and provides legal counsel for the University, its Board of Trustees, President, officers, colleges, faculty, and academic and administrative departments.

Prior to joining Lehigh, Mr. Roth served from 1996 to 2001 as Vice President and General Counsel of Drexel University and Secretary of its Board of Trustees.  Mr. Roth also served from 1998 to 2001 as Vice President and General Counsel of MCP Hahnemann University and Secretary of its Board of Trustees.  Prior to serving at Drexel, he was Assistant General Counsel and Associate General Counsel at the University of Pennsylvania from 1987 to 1996.  From 1983 to 1986, he was an associate attorney in two of Philadelphia's largest law firms:  Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll and Wolf Block Schorr & Solis-Cohen.

Mr. Roth received his Juris Doctorate degree from Harvard Law School and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Lehigh University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Mr. Roth is admitted to the bar of the United States Supreme Court, the Federal District Court of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.  He is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and serves on its Board of Directors.  Since 1994, he has been a lecturer in Higher Education Law at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.  Mr. Roth is a member of the Board of Trustees of Portico Benefit Services and the Board of Directors of Liberty Lutheran Services, and is Chair of the USA Table Tennis Ethics & Grievance Committee.
