Karen A. Salvemini joined the Office of the General Counsel as the Equal Opportunity Compliance Coordinator in January 2015. As the Equal Opportunity Compliance Coordinator, Ms. Salvemini oversees the University's education and compliance efforts relating to Title IX and other equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws. Ms. Salvemini also serves as the University's Title IX Coordinator, ADA Coordinator, Section 504 Coordinator, and the Age Discrimination Act Coordinator. Ms. Salvemini is also responsible for affirmative action oversight and reporting.
Prior to joining Lehigh, Ms. Salvemini was a full-time associate attorney at the law firm of Rhoads & Sinon LLP, located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, working in the Labor and Employment Group of the Civil Litigation Department. Ms. Salvemini frequently presented on various labor and employment topics and was a contributor to, and editor of, the Rhoads & Sinon LLP Labor & Employment Law Blog.
Ms. Salvemini received her Juris Doctorate degree, magna cum laude, from Widener University School of Law in 2009 and her Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, in English and Criminal Justice at DeSales University in 2006.
Ms. Salvemini is admitted to the bars of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the State of New Jersey, and the United States District Courts for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey. She has been a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Dauphin County Bar Associations and a Member of the Honorable William W. Lipsitt Inn of Court. Ms. Salvemini is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and of the Honorary First Defenders, and is a certified investigator.
